New Jersey State Police troopers say they shot and killed a man who allegedly tried to break into a house they were trying to stop from burning.
The troopers say 30-year-old Jacob T. Gurney of North Brunswick allegedly tried inside a home in the 200 block of Main Street, located in the borough of Brunswick, on Friday night.
Gurney allegedly began to throw objects at the troopers who then fired several shots at him.
He died at the scene.
Troopers say Gurnell was charged with criminal mischief and burglary.
He was taken to Jersey City Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The officers said they were called to the house in response to a fire call.
The troopers said a man, who was not identified, entered the home and began throwing objects at them, which then resulted in the troopers firing a Taser stun gun.
